The 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine (M178 DE 40 AL) in Mercedes-AMG models is equipped with an indirect charge air cooling system. The charge air cooling process is therefore achieved by a water-cooled intercooler, which is replaced by the WagnerTuning high-performance intercooler.

The WAGNERTUNING high-performance intercooler features a novel performance core measuring 209 mm x 175 mm x 110 mm. Specifically developed to meet the demanding requirements of the AMG engine, it offers 86% more external core volume compared to the original intercooler. The optimized ratio of internal to external cooling surface area ensures maximum heat transfer while simultaneously allowing for the best possible internal airflow. The cast aluminum end tanks were designed using CAD and optimized with CFD simulations. The result is outstanding cooling performance with minimal backpressure. This kit is therefore also suitable for racing applications. Optimal cooling of the charged air leads to a significant increase in power!

All WAGNERTUNING intercoolers are equipped with a heat-conducting, anti-corrosion coating, ensuring long-lasting cooling performance. Installation of the system is also straightforward and plug-and-play thanks to our installation instructions. & play feasible.
