FAQ - BMW Tuning
Do I have to lower something on BMW xDrive (all-wheel drive) models note?
Yes, xDrive models are technically more sophisticated. Incorrect lowering or incorrect wheel/tire combination can damage the transfer case. We strongly recommend using chassis specifically designed for xDrive (z.B. KW V1/V3 for xDrive), which you can find via our filter.
Are the parts from Maxton Design registration-free?
The majority of Maxton Design body kits (front splitter, Spoiler) for BMW is delivered with an ABE (general operating permit). That means: attach it, put the paper in the glove compartment, and you're done. Registration is often not necessary. But please always check the item description.
What are the benefits of the modules from LEIB Engineering or ASR?
These manufacturers are specialists in electronic controls.
- ASR & LEIB often offer flap control modules with which you can open and close the exhaust flaps manually (z.B. via steering wheel buttons) - for full sound at the push of a button (note: use in traffic regulations!).
- LEIB also offers OPF deleter to prevent error messages from racing exhaust systems.
Do I get an ABE for exhaust systems?
For exhaust systems (z.B. Milltek) it usually says whether they are “ECE-tested” (registration-free in the EU) or “Race/Without registration”. You can drive ECE systems in traffic without hesitation.
