The 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine (M178 DE 40 AL) of the Mercedes AMG models is equipped with an indirect charge air cooling circuit. The charge air cooling process is therefore realized by a water-cooled intercooler, which has been replaced by the WagnerTuning high-performance intercooler.

The WAGNERTUNING high-performance intercooler features a new performance core measuring 209 mm x 175 mm x 110 mm. This was specifically developed to meet the demanding requirements of the AMG engine and offers 86% more external core volume than the original intercooler. The ratio of inner to outer cooling surface generates maximum heat transfer while simultaneously enabling the best possible internal airflow. The cast aluminum end boxes were designed using CAD and optimized with the aid of CFD simulations. The result is excellent cooling properties with minimal backpressure. This kit is also suitable for racing. Optimal cooling of the charged air with a significant increase in performance!

All WAGNERTUNING intercoolers are equipped with a heat-conducting, anti-corrosion coating, ensuring a lasting cooling effect. Installation of the system is also straightforward and plug & play with the help of our installation instructions.
